Simone’s research focuses on the development and evaluation of quantitative tools for conservation decision-making, in particular indicators and models in marine and terrestrial systems. She completed her PhD at Deakin University, where she extended new methods for evaluating global biodiversity indicators. She also built a spread model for marine invasive species in New Zealand during her postdoc under the Marine Biosecurity Toolbox Project. Simone is currently contributing the IPBES Methodological assessment on monitoring biodiversity and nature’s contributions to people, and divides her week between the Community Ecology section at the Arthur Rylah Institute (Mon - Wed) and QAeCO (Thurs-Fri).
